MWC G10 100m GTLS NATO Specification Hybrid Powered Titanium Military Watch
SKU Code: T/G10SL/EU
This is the latest MWC self luminous G10 model from our Combat Elite series in a heavy titanium case with 100m (330ft) Water Resistant, screw down crown, screw caseback and unlimited battery life due to the sophisticated hybrid movement which combines the characteristics of an automatic watch with a super accurate electronic movement. The watch utilizes a rechargeable Electricity Storage Unit or E.S.U rather than a battery as used in conventional quartz watches. When fully charged the watch has a 3 month power reserve so even if you only wear it for a few weeks a year it will then keep running for 3 months as opposed to around 36 hours with a standard mechanical automatic watch. You will also have plenty of warning when the power reserve is low because the second hand will start moving at two-second intervals instead of the normal one-second intervals, the watch will run down in approximately 12 hours once this happens unless it worn to get the E.S.U charged up again.
With such a sophisticated movement the MWC G10 SL Hybrid is currently among the highest specification G10 military watch available from any manufacturer and is among the two most sophisticated models made by ourselves the other being the solar powered titanium model which we manufacture model: T/G10/SOL/L. Essentially this model combines the best of new and traditional watchmaking technology. It retains all the popular features from the conventional steel G10 models but has a titanium case, hybrid ultra low maintenance movement plus the benefit of the cutting edge self luminous GTLS tritium vials for improved night performance.
The actual specification of this watch was dictated by U.S Military Specification Number: US MIL-W-46374F. The self luminous system makes the watch very easy to read at night and it has a very distinctive high visibility dial. The, hour markers and the hour and minute hands each have a brightly glowing vial of Tritium gas. Whilst the vials contain radioactive gas even when they are all taken together they contain less than the personal limit of 25 millicuries. (see U.S Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations 10 CFR 30.15).Military watches of this type are the easiest in the world to read in low light or total darkness thanks to a self-activated light source which is 100 times brighter than traditional light sources such as paint. The light-emitting tubes require no battery power or any other form of charging, and never need servicing or maintenance. The life expectancy of the light sources is at least 10 years after which they would start to fade. To compare Tritium GTLS tubes and Super-LumiNova click here
We designed these watches specifically for a government contract when it was pointed out they would not be used continuously and for this reason the ability to be kept in storage and issued when required whilst still remaining accurate and ready for use when needed was a vital consideration. Clearly this makes sense because if the watches are not being used regularly the last thing a government department or military unit would want is to remove them from the stores only to find that the batteries are flat! These watches solve that problem because there are no batteries to worry about and they can be issued and brought into service at short notice.
The standard MWC G10 is one of the most tried and tested models and in its earlier variants has been in service for almost 30 years, this model shares a similar design to the steel models but the titanium case means this watch is the most high quality G10 model available anywhere in the world. The G10 Combat Elite range are supplied with a heavyweight NATO webbing strap. The reverse of the case carries various contract markings.
USER TIP: Wear the watch daily for at least 8 hours a day. As a guide if the watch is worn for 12 hours a day, about 36 hours (one and a half days) of power reserve will be newly accumulated every day. If the watch is worn for 12 hours a day over a week, for example, about 10 additional days of power reserve is accumulated so with regular use the amount of charge will increasingly build up until it reaches the full six months reserve.

Please Note: Hybrid and Kinetic Watches cannot be wound when not in use in the same way as automatic watches using a conventional watchwinder. This is because the movement of the winder is too gentle to generate the power needed. The solution is to buy a SEIKO YT02A KINETIC WATCH ENERGY SUPPLIER but they are quite costly at around $300 the cheap solution bizarrely is a Braun or Oral B toothbrush. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6NijuqOD_k and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNYTTqftcvk our watchmaker confirms this is a very workable cost effective solution if the watch is not used regularly. Strange we know but with a Braun or Oral B toothbrush from around $25 it is a simple solution.
